As reported in our previous post of the IPCB Board Meeting, Gerald Stöter, Head of IPCB-S will leave Afghanistan for good on May 31, 2014. Many of the national and international partners took the opportunity to bid farewell to him at a reception, which was generously hosted by the German Embassy.
There were honorific speeches from H.E. the Ambassador of Germany, Martin Jäger, the Deputy Minister for Security Ayoub Salangi and the Deputy Minister for Strategy and Policy Massod Azizi. All of the speakers pointed out the exceptional commitment and the enduring achievements of Gerald Stöter and lauded him for his achievements for Afghanistan. In his farewell-speech, Gerald Stöter used the opportunity to express his close relationship to Afghanistan. Being in Afghanistan before, his appointment as Head of IPCB-S was “a unique chance to go back to a country, which was still close to my heart” he noticing. He was also pointing out that the numerous participation of all the different partners and friends is “an indication of appreciation for me and the entire Secretariat”.
It was an honor for the IPCB-S staff working together with Gerald Stöter. We wish him all the best for his future and we thank him for the unique moments we were allowed sharing with him.
